Caring for the Orphans of the World

We are firm believers that we, as Christians, have been called to care for the Orphans of the world.  There are many ways to do this, but 2 ways that are near and dear to our hearts are:

1. Mission Work - Jason and I have gone on short term mission trips to Guatemala and India, because we were called to "GO" and care for the orphans.  We have worked in orphanages, slums, HIV homes and schools....and have fallen in love with each child.  Not everyone can "GO", but everyone can support those that can....both with prayer and financial support.

We have worked with Orphan Outreach, and if you're looking for an organization to to go on a mission trip with, to support ministries or have any questions, I encourage you to contact them.  http://www.orphanoutreach.org/

2. Adoption - Another area that is "near and dear" to us, with adoption.  We had 3 biological children, and then felt the calling to adopt.  We brought home a sweet, baby girl!  2 years later, we felt the calling again, and brought home our teenager daughter.  Though the challenges of a newborn vs. a teenager are quite different, the common ground was that they were both planned to be a part of our family - God called us, and we followed.

Steven Curtis Chapman has a wonderful testimony of his journey to adoption, check it out:
